iPads

iPads

Spartanburg EMS is excited to announce the transition from Getac laptops to iPads for patient care documentation. Our department selected a team of HealthEMS users to trial several different configurations of iPads with various cases and keyboard configurations. After our trail period there were several factors that helped make our decision clearer.

1. iPad’s are less expensive than the Getacs. With this reduced cost we can add 2 PCR devices to each truck. No more waiting to complete calls.

2. Mobile Touch is designed to perform best when utilizing a tablet for information collection. Calls are easier and faster to input when using an iPad.

3. Each user can sign into their inbox on their respective machine. No more sharing calls from inbox to inbox.

4. iPad’s don’t require a boot up sequence. Just push the button and it is ready to collect information.

5. iPads don’t require bit locker to allow access. All you have to remember is the universal device login and your personal credentials to login to HealthEMS.

6. With this step forward we will be able to utilize the camera for insurance cards and Driver’s License collection in the future.

7. Each iPad will come with a keyboard case that will allow for fast narrative completion.

8. We will have chargers in the truck and chargers in the station to ensure that your device is always ready.

A special thank you to the iPad trial team and their work during this project. The user interface on the iPad is very intuitive. It is virtually the same look and feel as your laptop provides today, just an easier way to tap through the call requirements. We will be holding several optional training sessions throughout the next month. Please feel free to come by and see the new set up and ask any questions that you may have.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Saturdays 7:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
